Toys Ahoy was founded by Amanda and Jane, who built the business between them: choosing the toys, picking and packing every order, and adding a personal touch for every customer who walked through the door or clicked "buy".
2024
In 2024, Jane and her family took over the running of Toys Ahoy — though you'll still spot Amanda popping in from time to time. The shop hasn't changed: it's still the place to find the perfect toy on the waterside. We've just added a rather more energetic social media habit, so we can keep on top of the viral trends alongside the traditional toys and timeless favourites.
After a career in childcare and raising three children of her own, Jane knows that what delights one child leaves another cold. That's why our range stretches so wide — creative toys and quiet activities for children who like their own company, games and collectibles for the ones who don't, and plenty in between. There's even something for the grown-ups, including Warhammer.
We've grown from a small traditional toy shop into somewhere families can find something for every child — and somewhere the village can come for community events, as part of Hythe Alive.
We've got the online shop and click and collect from the shop in Hythe, so you can get your toys whatever the weather.
